Funeral arrangements have been announced for a local young man who died in a wreck Wednesday.
Andrew Davidson, 18, of New Tazewell, was a local firefighter and officer with area law enforcement agencies.
According to a Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) report, Davidson, was killed as the result of a crash at 6144 State Hwy. 33 in Union County. The report states that Davidson, who was on a motorcycle, traveled around a curve and crossed into the oncoming lane of traffic. His motorcycle collided with a tractor-trailer head-on around 2:30 a.m., the report states.
Davidson was serving as a corrections officer for the Grainger County Sheriff’s Department and was training to be a reserve officer with Union County Sheriff’s Department.
He was a volunteer firefighter with the Tazewell-New Tazewell Fire Department, where his father is chief.
Davidson was a senior at Claiborne High School.
The family will receive friends April 5 from 4 until 8 p.m. in the Claiborne High School auditorium. A celebration of life will be conducted Sunday at 11 a.m. in the CHS auditorium. Burial will follow in the Jones Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be members of the Tazewell-New Tazewell Fire Department. Honorary pallbearers will be officers of the Grainger and Union County Sheriff’s Department and New Tazewell Police Department.
Davidson was wearing a helmet. The report states that speed was a factor in the accident.
No charges have been filed at this time. The wreck is still being investigated by THP.
