Staff Report

South Claiborne, North Tazewell, Tazewell-New Tazewell and Harrogate fire departments along with the Claiborne County Rescue Squad and Claiborne County Emergency Medical Services recently participated in a training exercise that was instructed by Capt. Richard Bailey, Capt. Byron Banks and Capt. Josh Miracle.

The training was hosted by the Springdale Volunteer Fire Department and featured ventilation techniques, scene safety along with search and rescue. Many volunteers braved temperatures in the 20s, howling winds and snow to better serve the community in the event they are called upon.

There was to be a live fire exercise, but the accumulating snow created travel concerns postponing the exercise to a later date. The group of trainers extended their appreciation to everyone that came out to the exercise and acknowledged each and everyone’s commitment and dedication, as well as the McDaniel family for donating a house for this training exercise. If anyone has a structure that could be used in future training please contact any of the above fire departments.
