This barn on Cardwell Ridge Road is one of several structures that has burned in the past few weeks under suspicious circumstances, according to officials. At least four structures have burned, all without electrical service and all near a roadway. The Cardwell Ridge fire occurred in the early morning hours of Feb. 22 and the Springdale Volunteer Fire Department, Claiborne County Emergency Medical Services, Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department and the Claiborne County Highway Department all responded to the fire. Cardwell Ridge Road was closed for a while due to a portion of the barn actually falling into the road.
