Runs came aplenty in the Lincoln Memorial University Railsplitters’ split against Newberry in a South Atlantic Conference baseball doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Lamar Hennon Field.

LMU (12-14, 8-7 SAC) was steamrolled, 24-4 in game one. However, they responded by capturing an 11-6 victory over Newberry (15-13, 7-6 SAC) in the finale to take a 2-1 series win over the Wolves. The Railsplitters won the series by virtue of a 20-9 thrashing in the opener on Friday evening.

With the Railsplitters’ eight-game home stand in the books, they are set for a six-game swing away from the friendly confines of Lamar Hennon Field. That stretch kicks off with a single game at the University of Virgina at Wise on March 20. First pitch in that nine-inning contest is slated for 6 p.m.

On Friday, the Railsplitters return to South Atlantic Conference play in the first of a three-game series at Brevard College.
