Hearland Medical, P.C. had it's official beginning in January of 1999, but the roots of the company begin late in 1959, when Dr. William N. Smith moved to New Tazewell, TN, and opened New Tazewell Family Practice. He opened doors for what has continued to be a walk-in medical clinic for the Primary Care of the citizens of Claiborne County and the surrounding area. The clinic has evolved over the years through numerous stages of growth and development, but the goal and purpose of the clinic has remained the same. Now as then, the physicians and their company remain committed to preserving and respecting the dignity of the patients of Heartland Medical, P.C., while providing the medical care that has been continually developed in both the physicians and their employees by their training and experience.
The physicians/owners of Heartland Medical, have a deep desire to provide long term stewardship to the citizens of Claiborne County and the surrounding area. The delivery of health care to the citizens of this area is our central focus. The owners want to leave a legacy, a dedication of service, to both their employees and the people of the community to whom they have committed themselves. Providing the health care services that the people in the community need and desire is seen as the most essential component.
