A Tazewell man is dead as the result of a two-vehicle crash Wednesday evening.
According to a report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a 2002 Ford Taurus driven by George H. Wadell, 74, was at the stop sign on Little Sycamore Road at the U.S. Hwy. 25E intersection when Wadell allegedly “failed to yield to” another vehicle and “pulled out onto U.S. Hwy. 25E”, striking the other vehicle.
The crash occurred at approximately 6:24 p.m.
The second vehicle was a 2014 Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by Tony Nailing Sr., 58, of Kankakee, Illinois. He was uninjured, according to the report.
According to Trooper Chad Arnwine, the investigating officer, Wadell was not wearing a seat belt but it would not have made a difference, he reported. Nailing was wearing a seat belt.
No criminal charges were filed at the time. The investigation is ongoing.
