Not only have firefighters been busy fighting wildfires, but they’ve been busy fighting structure fires in the area as well.
At approximately 9:30 p.m. Sunday, firefighters and other emergency responders were called out to a fire in a garage on Cedar Fork Road. According to Tazewell-New Tazewell Fire Chief Josh Miracle, items in the garage caused it to be engulfed fairly quickly after they responded.
“A boat with a lot of fuel was in there and then it (the fire) got up in the electrical lines and there wasn’t much we could do after that,” he said.
The garage was detached from the house and no one was injured, Miracle added.
In addition to the TNT Fire Department, the Springdale and North Tazewell Volunteer Fire Departments responded as did Claiborne County EMS and the Tazewell Police Department.
The department answered two calls at the same trailer in Burchfield Trailer Park in New Tazewell last week as well.
The first fire occurred the morning of Nov. 8 around 3:30, he said. At that time there were no injuries and the fire was put out.
The second fire occurred around 8 a.m. Nov. 10, Miracle added. An occupant of the trailer got out and was treated for smoke inhalation, according to Miracle.
The TNT Fire Department had assistance from the South Claiborne Volunteer Fire Department, New Tazewell Police Department and the Claiborne County EMS.
