Annual dinner, awards banquet held


Thomas McAfee, a student at J. Frank White Academy, spoke to the audience about this year’s class project for Leadership Claiborne.

Bo Goodin accepted the Platinum Membership award on behalf of Powell Valley Electric Cooperative.

Outgoing Chamber of Commerce president Pat Anstett was recognized.

The business, group, club or organization award was given by the Claiborne County Tourism Commission for excellence in tourism development. An individual award was accepted by Carl Nichols for Carol Campbell, who was unable to be at the dinner.

Comedian John Felts provided light-hearted entertainment for the evening.

Claiborne County Mayor Jack Daniels accepted the Diamond Membership award on behalf of the Claiborne County Government.

Gold Membership sponsors were recognized: Citizens Bank, Claiborne Medical Center, DTR Tennessee, Inc., England, Inc., First Century Bank, Heartland Medical, Vyve Broadband, Well Being Foundation, City of Harrogate, Commercial Bank, Duncan Lumber Company, Estep & Estep Attorneys, First State Financial, Home Federal Bank and Walmart.

The annual Claiborne County Chamber of Commerce awards dinner was held recently at the Lincoln Memorial University Dining Hall in Harrogate.

The organization has undergone drastic changes during the past few months. Leaders spoke of the new partnership the chamber now falls under — the Claiborne Economic Partnership (CEP). The partnership is a combination of the chamber and the Economic and Community Development Board.

Jennifer Hall was recently named CEO of the partnership and a Joint Operating Committee oversees the CEP’s operations. Members of the Joint Operating Committee are: Kim Bolton, chair, Rob Barger, vice-chair, Daniel England, Glenn Fultz, Roger Ball, Rodney England and Pat Anstett.

Comedian John Felts provided entertainment during the dinner and numerous awards were given out. Ken Wilson provided music for the dinner.
