Those battling cancer in the more rural areas of the Tri-State area have a shorter distance to travel for treatment via the Tennessee Cancer Specialists and its Harrogate based clinic.

The last thing a cancer patient needs is to expend an exorbitant amount of time and energy traveling to and from their oncology visit.

“Some patients cannot travel long distances, so they are grateful for not only our services but the clinic expansion, too,” said Dr. Richard Lee, a provider at the Harrogate Clinic. “Our staff members, including Nurse Practitioners Corey Payne and James Wolfenbarger, feel invigorated in the revitalized space.”

Since 2004, the clinic has offered cutting-edge, effective evidence based treatments currently on the market within its service areas.

“We want patients to know we are close by and deliver the same high level of care they would expect to receive if they traveled to Knoxville,” said Dr. Russell F. Devore, III, another Harrogate Clinic provider.

The eight month long, $1.5 million renovation of the facility provides 33 percent more square footage, giving that much more space to assist more cancer patients in their oncology needs.

The renovation project focused on the expansion of the infusion room that provided more infusion chairs courtesy of England Inc. New private examination rooms were also added to the facility.

The expansion allowed for the hiring of more clinicians and subspecialists, as well.

“We have more capability to handle the region’s growing patient population,” said Lee. “Here, we deliver state-of-the-art cancer care and world-class technologies to rural communities who may not otherwise have access.”

Tennessee Cancer Specialists’ relationship with Tennova Healthcare gives Harrogate Clinic patients access to comprehensive cancer care with both medical and radiation oncology services available.

“Tennova Healthcare has been very good to the community, and it has adapted to patients’ needs,” said Lee. “We very much value our partnership with the system.”
