A 25-year-old Tazewell man recently charged by New Tazewell Police Department for two counts of arson has now been charged for a third time by the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) Fire and Explosives Task Force.
According to Claiborne County Sheriff David Ray, Joshua Sutton has been a suspect in several fires from early in the investigations. After his arrest in the New Tazewell area, Sheriff’s Office investigators were able to interview Sutton to gather direct and indirect evidence which allegedly linked him to the cases within the county, said Ray.
“I would like to personally thank Chief Ben Evans and Brent Clark of New Tazewell Police Department and my Claiborne County Task Force Officers, Detective Brad Duncan, Investigator Bruce Myers and Captain David Honeycutt for their work on these cases,” said Ray.
Ray urges the communities of Claiborne County to assist the CCSO in helping to catch alleged arsonists.
“In some case, rewards are available,” he added.
If you have a tip, call the CCSO at 423-626-3385.
Sutton is currently being held in the Claiborne County Jail under a $250,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 11.
