July is Beef Month in Tennessee.
It’s always grilling time in Tennessee, but somehow the lazy days of summer just make it that much better. Join your Tennessee cattle producers in celebrating and enjoying the high quality beef for which our state is known. From juicy hamburgers to sizzling steaks, Tennesseans love beef and with grilling season upon us, backyard barbecues will be in full swing.
Emerging research continues to support findings that protein, like that enjoyed in lean beef, can help people maintain healthy weight, build muscle and gain the energy they need for active lives. And the best news is that many of America’s favorite cuts (like strip steak, flank steak and tenderloin) meet government guidelines for lean.
Abby Ferguson is the 4-H Beef Ambassador for Claiborne County this year.
“Beef is good – and good for Tennessee’s economy too,” Ferguson said.
Tennessee is home to 40,000 plus cattle producers who pride themselves on bringing safe, wholesome, delicious, and nutritious beef to your dinner table. Tennessee ranks 15th in the United States in beef cattle production and, in fact, cattle are the number one agricultural commodity in Tennessee.

“Happy grilling!” added Ferguson.
Ferguson invites everyone to stop by Food City in Tazewell on July 27 from 4-6 p.m. at the 4-H Extension table for beef month information and to enter to win giveaways.
