Early voting has begun!

Make your voice heard! Hundreds across Claiborne County have already cast their ballot, have you?

According to the Claiborne County Election Commission Office, over 400 people have already voted.

That number is combined with both voting locations in Claiborne County.

The Election Commission is still urging everyone to take part in early voting to avoid those long lines on Election Day.

There are two locations for early voting, the Claiborne County Election Office and Harrogate City Hall/EMS Building.

You can vote Monday through Friday at these locations from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM and on Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM starting on Friday, July 16 until Saturday, July 31.

Election Day is August 5 and on that day polling places will be open from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

If you have any questions, you can call the Claiborne County Election Commission at 423-626-5128 or send them an e-mail at claibornecounty@gmail.com.

Is there ever going to be any coverage of the candidates or do we all just have to guess randomly?

In principle, early voting sounds good. Avoid long lines while letting your voice be heard. However, how about all the people who have already voted early who have voted for the current mayor? Assuming that WBIR's report is correct and he has passed away, then they have done nothing but waste their chance at helping elect the next mayor. Things like this is why I have never voted early despite having to stand in line for over an hour. (My condolences to Joe Tyler's family.)
