The Heritage Christian Academy hosted the Forge Ridge Dragons Nov. 1. The boys varsity basketball game was the final game of the evening and fans saw the Dragons pull away to seal a 43-34 victory over the Eagles.
The first period was a great one as the two teams battled to a 7-7 tie. They followed that up with another close period with the Dragons leading at the half by a single point at 17-16.
The Dragons began pulling away from the home team during the third period by outscoring the Eagles 14-7. Heritage tried to make a comeback during the final period and scored 11 points but to the disappointment of the Eagles’ fans they gave up 12 points.
After the final buzzer had sounded, the victory went to the Dragons by the final score of 43-34.
Leading the Dragons in scoring was Clint Crockett with 14 points followed closely by teammate Andrew Sutton with 13 points. Malachi Sandefur finished with eight points. Cameron Burchett dropped in four points and two other Dragons had two points each: Nick Bray and Sam McCorkel.
Hayden Gilbert led the Eagles in scoring with 15 points. Hunter Gilbert finished with 10. Ryan Saylor dropped in six points and the other three points belonged to Gage Piercy.
