The Forge Ridge Dragons rolled into Midway looking for a big win in boys basketball Nov. 3. Instead of a win, they went home with a 10-point loss, 43-33.
When the Red Devils have a good game they can compete with anyone and on this night they got 23 from Jimmy Del Ervin to secure the big win. During the first period, Forge Ridge stayed close at 6-4 but the game got away during the 13-7 second period. Midway was leading 19-11 at the half and was looking great.
Midway had started the game with four quick points from Sammy Day and a great effort all game long from Ervin. During the third period, Midway scored 16 and gave up nine points. The final period belonged to the Dragons as Clint Crockett put six points on the board but it wasn’t enough to get past the Red Devils who finished with a 43-33 victory.
Ervin led all scorers with 23 points and Day helped with 11 points. Matthew Hubbard finished with four points and Gavin Sweet along with George Smith added two points each. Levi Peoples scored one point to round out the total.
Forge Ridge was led by Clint Crockett with 12 points. Malachi Sandefur dropped in eight points. Cameron Burchett slid six points through the nets and Andrew Sutton had four. Braden Ellison finished with two and Dillion Greene completed the scoring with one point.
