Jonathan Miracle of Tazewell is a local driver, son of Arlis and Velma Miracle, who primarily races at Tazewell Speedway. Miracle has been a successful and winning driver since 1998.
Miracle began racing in 1997 and his first ever win came the next year in Tazewell Speedway’s Pure Street Division. He raced the Pure Street car until 2005 and tried the Modified Street Class during the 2006 season. He once again found his groove in the Pure Street class and got behind the wheel of his Chevrolet Monte Carlo, and at times, the now famous red Dodge Truck owned by Dennis Whitaker.
For seven consecutive years, he raced in the Pure Street class winning the 2007 Mid-Season Championship and the 2007 Season Points Title. To cap it off he won a Harley Davidson that track owner Gary Hall gave away at season’s end.
He also won titles during the 2011, 2013 and 2014 Seasons as well. In 2010 he finished third in points and second in 2013. Miracle made the move to the Sportsman Class in 2015 and is quickly learning the new car.
All in all, he has won 70 total races with more likely to come. He has the help of many friends including Clyde Overholt and is sponsored by Noah’s Wholesale, Petty Wrecker Service, Eagle Race Engines, Parkers Performance Service, Sweet Southern Roots Boutique. He is assisted by a fine crew including crew chief Brian Towe, Clyde Overholt, Thomas Noah, Tim Hatfield and the one they affectionately call Petey Poblo.
Miracle races for the fun of it all and oftentimes is seen helping others, even his competitors.
