Cumberland Gap High School played host to the Buffaloes of West Greene for an important game of district baseball.

In a game full of ups and downs for both teams it was the Panthers who placed the first run on the scoreboard during the bottom half of the first inning.

The Panthers manufactured a second run during the second inning as Michael Moyers was doing good work on the mound.

Moyers pitched five shut out innings before giving up two runs in the sixth inning which gave the visitors hope as they had tied the game at two runs each. Bubba Lake came in to relieve Moyers and pitched well enough to help his Panthers keep the Buffaloes off the scoreboard.

The Panthers again found offense when the game went into extra innings. The winning run was pushed across the plate during the bottom of the eighth inning and allowed the home team to celebrate a 3-2 victory.

Cumberland Gap finished with 8 hits on the evening and West Greene had five hits. The Panthers had to rally late because of an uncharacteristic four errors. The Buffaloes had two errors.
