The New Tazewell team struck first and placed two runs on the scoreboard during the first half of the opening inning. Maryville did not stay behind for long as they rallied and placed six runs up during the bottom of the first inning.

The two teams traded scoring runs during the second and third innings with Maryville grabbing the one run advantage at 9-8. New Tazewell placed three runs on the board during the top of the fourth to retake the lead, 11-9.

The New Tazewell advantage increased during the fifth inning to the amount of 17-9. Maryville added two runs during the bottom of the fifth making the scoreboard read 17-11 and giving the Maryville fans hope. The rains fell in this contest too for a few minutes but did not seem to affect the play at all.
