A partly cloudy sky and temperatures in the mid- to high- 80s greeted the participants of the 2016 Claiborne High School SkillsUSA Antique Tractor Pull.

As a fundraiser for the SkillsUSA students, the pull is essential in getting the students to local, state and national competitions. The pull has become a yearly tradition and pullers from all over East Tennessee, Kentucky and Virginia look forward to making the trip.

Upon arrival, the tractors headed to the scales and registered for the corresponding classes. In many cases multiple drivers will participate with the same tractor and they all hope to defeat their friends and take home one of many trophies.

Although the number of tractors and participants was down compared to other years there were still 70-75 hook-ups to the sled provided by East Tennessee Antique Tractor Association.

Without help the pull could not be such a success and the Claiborne High School SkillsUSA team would like to thank all the volunteers and numerous sponsors.

The Claiborne SkillsUSA students may have other fundraising efforts coming up according to CHS teacher Jeremy Whitaker.
