Lena Hatmaker, age 67, of Speedwell, was born August 21, 1940 in Arthur and passed away Friday, February 8, 2008.
She was the daughter of the late Ed and Irvine Gibson of Arthur. She was an active member of the Speedwell and surrounding community. She was a strong supporter of Powell Valley athletics and spent many hours volunteering. She was a founding member of the Powell Valley High School Band Booster Club. She supported the Harrogate Little League and the Harrogate/Powell Valley Football League for many years and was an avid fundraiser for both.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years: Bill Hatmaker of Speedwell; daughter: Dee (David) Nicholas of Monroeville, Pa.; son: Greg Hatmaker of Blaine, and fianc/e Carla Wyrick of Middlesboro, Ky.; two sisters: Ann (Cordice) Chumley of Harrogate, Sue (Audie) Wheatly of Arthur; one brother: Doyle Gibson of Oak Hill, Wv.; nieces: Toni (Bruce) Stanhope, Susan (Spencer) Ruggiero, Angela (Chris) Orr; nephews: Scott Wheatly, Robert (Angela) Gibson, Brian (Jenny) Gibson; long time friends: Katherine and Dorsey Humfleet; special friend: Ann Gent; great nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and family.
Funeral services were Sunday, February 10 at the Coffey Funeral Home in Harrogate with Rev. Mike Humfleet officiating. Interment at Carr's Cemetery in Speedwell.
Pallbearers: Robert Gibson, Brian Gibson, Scott Wheatly, Dennis Evans, Larry Honeycutt, Dan Graves, Christopher Graves, and Tyler Stanhope.
