Claiborne High School basketball was proud to announce that Lady Bulldog Cheyenne Tolliver has decided that she will continue her basketball career with Alice Lloyd College, located in Pippa Passes, Kentucky. During a ceremony April 20 Tolliver signed to play basketball with the Lady Eagles in front of her teammates, friends, coaches and family.
Her parents, Curtis and Sharon Tolliver, proudly sat beside her as she signed the papers.
Tolliver played for her mother at Midway Elementary and then had a carousel of coaches including Misty Cooper, Nathan Medlin and Ariel Nickell.
When asked about Cheyenne and her abilities Nickell said, “Cheyenne reminds me a lot of myself. I really think that she will fit right in at Alice Lloyd. She has the drive in her to be successful but she needs to be able to step away from her comfort zone. She is capable of being even better. The potential is there, she just has to realize it.”
Tolliver will soon be changing from a Bulldog to an Eagle and her decision to do so was relatively easy despite also having a passion for soccer.
“When I went up there to visit it felt very much like home and I was very comfortable there. I have come a long way through a lot of rough spots and it’s definitely been amazing up to this point,” she said. “I am excited to be there and have this opportunity.”
She had several people she wanted to thank, including her mother and father, Cooper, Medlin and Nickell.
Tolliver added, “I’d also like to thank my mamaw and my great aunt and uncles. They have all made me stronger and better as a player.”
