Catherine Dyer, age 72, passed away on Nov. 19, 2023. Born in 1951 to Professor and Mrs. Fred Wolf, Vanderbilt University, Catherine was a graduate of Hillsboro High School and Peabody College, Nashville, and UT Knoxville in chemical engineering.

Catherine married fellow student Fred Dyer in 1981.

Despite battling illness for many years, Catherine had a successful career as a chemical engineer at Oak Ridge and Dow Chemical, and later as a partner to Fred’s industrial instruments business.

Catherine is survived by her husband and loving caregiver, Fred, brother-in-law Craig Dyer, sister Ann Ercelawn, nieces Ayesha Ercelawn and Aliya Henry (Lane), great nephew Adam Henry, nephew Brad Dyer (Jennifer), great niece Madelyn Dyer, and friend Sherri Daniel.

A memorial service will be held at 2 pm at Tazewell United Methodist Church on Saturday, Dec. 9, with visitation from 1-2 pm.

Donations in Catherine’s name may be made to NAMI, the Audubon Society, or the Humane Society.
